Hi, I see that this forum seems mostly for modding/modded ps2's, but as it says general discussion, I figured I'd post.
Basically, our ps2 has always worked fine (despite a couple errors over the 2 or so years we owned it.)
Then, a few days ago my brother dropped it. Now, the disc won't spin, and virtually nothing happens if you put a disc in. If I go to the browser, where it shows inserted memory cards and discs, and put a disc in, nothing happens. It doesen't even say "reading disc".
The laser, at first wasn't moving downward as it was supposed to. (It was at the top, so we moved it down, careful not to touch the actual laser.)
No sounds, no spin, nothing.
If no one can help, we'll probably have to shell out $60 or so for a new one at the pawn shop.
first of all my advice only works for sure if it is a big ps2 not slim, I have never opened a slim yet, second I would suggust opening up your ps2 and checking all the ribbon connections to make sure none of them have come undone which happens to me alot when my daughter drops mine if that don't work then ask here again someone else might have better info of shell out the $60. Hope I could help
Ah... I've got a slim. If we do get a new one, I might go for the big though, I've heard they can play blue discs. I don't think my slim can. Plus I've heard bigs have fewer errors. Can anyone confirm this?
Also, thanks.
I might have to look up a guide and take it apart. (What can I lose, I say.)
