I'm running a Dell Dimension 4550 with Win XP Pro SP3. I purchased my computer in 2004 . The video card , a 32MB ATI Rage 128 Ultra came pre-installed in my computer. It's still working fine. But it's limited in what it can do. I know next to nothing about video hard ware . And I would like to upgrade to another video card that would have a video out and TV tuner abilities .
I'm not a gamer, but I use my computer a lot for watching movies , and would also like to watch TV on on-line also.
So I would like to ask two questions :
1. Would upgrading my computer's ram to 1 GB , from 512 MB help my video display ?
2.What video card upgrade would you recommend that would be compatible with my computer?
What are you intending to run on the PC that you can't run at the moment? I ask because for playing modern games, realistically the whole system needs upgrading.

I was thinking about getting better movie video playback , and watching HD TV shows on my computer.Could my present video card handle that? If I had a TV tuner on my computer?
Also, I would like a card with a video out , so I could send on-line movies to my TV.
High-def has something to do with the graphics card, and a lot to do with the processor, and given the age of the system, neither will play back HD well, they will manage it, but it will probably be a bit juddery.
