Guitar Hero 3 Controller Les Paul -accessories?

I just got a Les Paul wireless controller.
I was supprised it didn't come with some type of battery backup.
It just requires 2 AA batteries.
However, at the bottom of the guitar there is some plugins, etc..

Can someone briefly tell me what those are for?
Any type of accessory ideas for the guitars would be helpful.
I don't know what is out there.

all i know of is a mic for your 360 head set. they do seel a play and charge kit for it i saw one at gamestop the other day.
