A wad is a bundled channel. It could contain any form of channel, be it a virtual console title, internet channel, homebrew channel, exc.

A wad is installed via the wad manager, run in the homebrew channel or through the twilight hack.

No modchip required, just a way of booting homebrew. Like I said, either the twilight hack or homebrew channel.

Put the wad on sd card

Run homebrew channel

Run wad installer

Select wad

Install

Enjoy!

Google anything you dont understand, but it sounds like you know about homebrew.

A quick google search turned up this handy list of homebrew apps. Download the wad manager put the wad files in the wad folder and boot the app like any other homebrew channel app. http://nintendo-scene.com/homebrew-channel-packs

That is the name...

The homebrew channel.

You can read more about it HERE.

It is just an easier way to boot homebrew applications on the Wii menu through a channel.

That way you don't always have to run the Twilight Princess hack everytime you want to boot an application.

You just place the applications in the apps folder on the root of an SD card and when you launch the homebrew channel all applications you have in the apps folder will be listed. All you have to do is choose the application you want to boot.

If you have 3.2 or below firmware on the Wii you can use the ISO installer to installer the homebrew channel. If you have 3.3 firmware you will need to use the Twilight Princess hack to install it.

Either way it is pretty easy to do.

I think you're wrong.

The highest current firmware is 3.3
You can check what firmware your wii has on the system settings.

If you have firmware 3.3 then yes, the only way to install the homebrew channel is via the twilight hack. It does support all zelda versions now though, so you dont have to worry about getting the wrong one.

I do have a file that says it is the twilight file but sthe readme says I need the game to install it. The file has folders RZDE, RZDJ, RZDP. Each with a data.bin file. no elf file. I have the hombrew channer files which does have the elf.

Yes, thats right. The twilight hack is a hacked zelda save game that you replace your zzelda save with. Read the documentation on the subject for full details on how to use it.

OK finaly rented the game. Got homebrew channel installed along with the apps on its home page. Now what do I do with all these wad files I have. I hope I can run them off my SD. Sounds like I may be able to run them remotely on TCP. Just a little more help and Im there.

You need to get a homebrew app that lets you install wads. There are a bunch out there. You download the wad installer, put that on your sd card in the apps directory. Put your wad in your WAD directory on your sd card. Go to the homebrew channel and fire up your wad installer. Let the wad installer install your wad for you and when you reboot to your wii menu you will have a new channel.

Just to let you know. I found an alternative to that link. I got it working and can now install wads. You dont even need to downgrade from the OCT23 update. It seems to patch all the current IOSs. Even get IOS16 installed. So there is hope for those that did the update.

I am having issues with wads. seems I can only mostly find PAL wads. Is there something to convert theese to NTSC or a place to get NTSC.

Thanks
