We'll see if it pans out.

But hey, having a modchip is still pretty handy considering you can load from DVDs (and not have to patch ISOs and swap them off an SD/ Flash drive).

It'd still be nice if this worked out.

Doesnt it read straight off dvds? I think he just accessed the SD to open the program; notice how at first the channel said it couldn't read the current dvd

Pretty cool, but I'm still waiting for an iso loader that supports external hard drives.

This will be killed by the big N in a few weeks, but then the Hackers will strike again, I find all this quite funny! Do they have to patch the game or does the homebrew take care of that? Like will all my backups work on this? Or would they have to be ripped patched and re burned?

It will certainly be a baller thing to have available, but I already ordered a modchip so I'm going to install it regardless.

it will be killed... and then revised to work again. However do you really want to be SOL for a few weeks while you are waiting for waninkoko to figure it out and repost.... Plus then you have to hope that the release is really stable and won't mess up your wii. If you are afraid to mod your wii, then it may be a good option. However, I still think that getting a chip is the best option if you have the means to do so.

I still play my wii, just not as much. Gave my PSP to my son.

Modchips can go badly as well.

The ISO Loader works like this. You create a legal backup of a game you own, convert the ISO file with a special program then burn it. After this, you copy over the ISO Loader to the Homebrew Channel and run it. It will boot the legal backup. Pretty simple. Oh, and no modchip is required. However, it does require you to have Waninkoko's Custom IOS installed.

I agree that mod chips can go bad, but you have to admit that it is easier to exploit a weakness in hardware than firmware. I don't think that there is anything wrong with using an ISO loaded ratherthan a modchip. I was just trying to point out the potential problems with it. Actually i'm a little sad about an ISO loader because I like the homebrew channnel and I don't want it to go from an annoyance to something that Nintendo decides needs more attention in disabeling. However you can't put the genie back in the bottle. And to be honest I would be the first to put of on my wii if I didn't have a modchip

I have a mod chip, but I am definitely going to mess around with this, whenever it is actually released. This is a pretty big thing, so it's definitely cool to see.

As I stated in another thread it is funny how everyone thinks Waninkoko's iso loader is going to make Nintendo block homebrew or work harder at it. The fact is Nintendo has already tried blocking homebrew by patching the old version of TP hack and Trucha Signed patches/disc.

Anyone that thinks Nintendo wasn't already working on patching loop holes before any of Waninkoko's applications came out is kidding themselves. So blaming the fall of the homebrew scene on 1 man is kinda stupid.

As well I have read a few threads on other forums that somehow link a ISO Loader (softmod for backups) to those that pirate games. What I don't understand is what they think the difference is between a softmod that boots backup games and a Modchip that boots backup games. They both serve the same purpose and both can be exploited by those that pirate games.

Exactly. There isn't a difference. People just think that a softmod will be utilized more often.
I don't see the difference though.
Anyone who really wants to play backups will do it anyway. The means doesn't really matter.

apparently it doesn't matter either way. waninkoko is upset that someone leaked the beta version, so it says on his website that he has abandoned it.

2008/09/19 - Congratulations! I don't care about who leaked Backup-Loader but now it's OFFICIALLY an abandoned project. Enjoy it
. I'm not sure how much fun it'll be if it never gets past the beta version. However if you want the beta version, here it is.
