HITACHI 79 FIRMWARE!!!

While using Maximus Firmware Toolbox 4.0 I used slax and it recognizes my 360 right away and puts it in mode b. i then restart pc and take cd out. Go into windows vista, put in a game or movie (tried both) the autorun thing comes out, so i exit that out, then go into Maximus Firmware Toolbox 4.0 and select the tools and select Direct Drive Dump. It then shows the drive, and I click 'RAW dump firmware as' and it sits there for about 20 seconds then says FAILED TO READ DRIVE.
Its a GDR3120L drive and everything. I'm obviously hooked up good if it goes into mode b easily, and it autoruns the movie i put in, in vista. I'm just having problems with Maximus Firmware tool.
Anyone know of this error and howto fix it?

Ooo. NVM everyone. I figured out why myself. I had to use that 79unlocker cd and program. Was not aware of that. Anyways, drive appears to be flashed. it all said sucuessful. Is there any way to test it before my sammy drive gets here? And how do I do console updates on it and such. thanks.

wow. Multiple posts :D. Sorry to keep bothering everyone, but I flashed my hitachi with the maximus firwmare toolbox 4.8 and I was wonedering what 'firmware' is on my 360. I keep seeing people talking about iexteme and all this stuff. And oh everyone must update to the newest firmware so they have lesser chance to get banned. I was just wondering how do i update my firmware and what firmware would the toolbox 4.8 provide me with? Thanks

I heard there was a non-sodder way for the Hitachi drives, is the method you just described it? Does it work on any Hitachi drive or certain models?

From my understanding and reading it works with any hitachi drive. VERY EASY TOO!! and fast. Just the 79 you need to use the 79unlocker cd. alls you do is play a mp3 file off a cd you must make, and run a command prompt command and it unlocks it fine. Anyone know of a way to rip a game without the samsung drive? Im still awaiting it in the mail, but i have Battlefield Bad Company here and Rainbow Six Vegas 2 here and i wanna make backups of them :D

hey element i dont think there is a way to backup without the samsung drive my bro has that in his pc and it is what he use's witht he firmware you used does your hitachi drive allow you to played burned games on xbox live

I only play xboxlive on my other 360 because I don't feel like running the risk of getting the flashed console banned. I'm still waiting on my samsung drive in the mail! :D
