topic sais it all...

i bought CoD3 some time ago, and love that game on line. the only thing i would miss if i lost xblive to a ban... and probably the only game i would even consider playing on xblive after a firmware flash...

Would i be risking it playing CoD3 off a retail disc if i have an altered firmware loaded?

Is there currently a known greater risk of ban playing a backed up game on xblive then a retail game?

doesnt matter if you play retail or burned game, each run the same chance of getting you banned once you hack the FW. this is because your 360 logs each game you play, online, or offline, and then sends this list to MS once you get onto LIVE.

makes sence...

i wish there was a safe modchip solution that existed in the last gen of consoles instead of this firmware solution. simply turning your mod chip off and KNOWING you are ok to jump on live was a comfort that i enjoyed...

I think it is interesting that people can take burned games and jump on live to multi-play just as easily as a retail copy. I would think that injection of a game trainer on a backed up game would ruin the game play experience for others on live this way... or is that not possible/detectable?

i personally hated cheaters on gamespy online... and would figure that that would be the #1 draw for microsoft to ensure that modders get snuffed out of live with a ban...

i dont think you can put trainers on the 360 games yet like you could with the old ones and PC games. and i know with halo, they banned a bunch of 'cheaters' for glitching and cheating to get a higher ranking by using the language cheat on lone wolves and such.

i hope trainers are never developed... that is all microsoft needs to spark a greater interest in developing routines to detect/ban hacked firmware. If there is no threat to the community, there is no real reason to draw a great amount resources away from development to eliminate modders...

Fact remains that regardless of what microsoft does to keep a modder down, the will always rise up again and get around the changes... its a losing battle.

...just as long as we dont give them a real reason to fight back... by destroying the community we engage in with our modifications.

Personnly, I think it's more of the gamer being a moron then MS trying hard to find the modders.

Think about it. Why waste resources when you can just wait for a moron to play a game while connected to Live that's not out yet. The most recent one is Rock Band 2. Stores were not selling it early, Live didn't even have the achievements listed for it, and yet people were playing it while connected. Morons.

stores were selling it earlier, i went to three wal-marts within an hour of my house and all of them had it on their shelves as of 9-9, a full 5 days before it was released. a local blockbuster had it on the shelves that same day also, but i hate that place so i didnt rent it from them.

yea 8 bucks there, where at family video i can do an overnight (which is what i do for 2 bucks) or a week for 5 and at FV a week is a week, unlike BB which is 5 days.

true that, but i only need an overnight rental to see if the game is any good or not. withing 15 minutes you can tell if it sucks, or is good.

they still have that at the crawfordsville, indiana one. but you can only have like 1 or 2 games/movies out at a time. a room-mate of mine did that with movies.

yeah they still do that at hollywood video i believe... i did that for several months. i would swap and grab 3 new movies a day. i determined at one point that one store wasn't fast enough, so i bought in to 2 stores... i was going through 6 movies a day until i eventually was scraping the bottom of the barrel at the video store... then cancelled everything.

I now have Netfliz which is continuing to treat me right!

oh... and gamefly is suiting my needs for wii and xbox 360... a tad pricey, but with 12-16 games a month you cant go very wrong for $21

its very worth it imo... its the only way i would ever consider renting a game.

I dont do the download thing... waste of time/bandwidth/risk of viruses/too much frustration.

i'd rather rent. no muss no fuss.

I only have 1 HDD. I have a modded 360 and a normal 360 for xbl. Just wondering, if i play on the modded 360, offline and such. Then put the HDD over to my stock 360 and play some halo3 online or whichever game, is it possible that my stock 360 could get banned?
The info on the HDD and such?
