I have dug and dug and dug... but i have not seen any up-to-date recommendations for mod chips that are not dated older then a year ago...

For wii's before the d2c version, what is a good choice?

for wiis d2c and later, what is the best on the market?

Looking to buy a mod chip, and there are so many out there that i'm totally lost as to what is a good way to go!

And i read that there are some "solderless" models out there... how easy are they to be installed? do they just snap in? are those the way to go for a guy that doesn't want to get in there and drop solder?

it all depends on what chipset you have and how much you want to spend.

I have a release day wii with a wiikey clip. I tried to have it soldered first and it was a mess and didn't work. so I bought the clip. all I had to do was open my wii, make sure that I had the clip facing the right way and then snap it on. the hardest part was making sure that it was on all the way, they are pretty tight. I heard that the clip can come off if you drop it or are rough with it, but I have not had any problems at all.
so far the wii key has worked well for me. it is cheap, updatable and has not had any problems.

I still play my wii, just not as much. Gave my PSP to my son.
