your original FW is on your console, there is no generic orig FW. so if you lost it your pretty much SOL.

there is no 'base original' FW to my knowledge. this is why people should back it up in many different places. different hard drives, on floppy discs, email it to yourself (hard to lose those).

dude, that won't work. Sorry. If you lost your original firmware, that's it. You can't substitute your key in someone else's. Sorry

yes you can many people are using other peoples firmware and putting the key in
all samsung ms-25 firmware are the same but are signed with your console number so if you put your key in it works

well then you apparently know more than every single person on this forum. If you have any proof, paste it in here so we could begin to learn it at least. Otherwise, don't say BS, argue with us, and have nothing to back up what you're claiming.

Well thanks for showing you can be an ass. I probably wouldn't help you now if I could.
Regardless, this is the first time that I have seen/heard about using a generic type of firmware. I would completely discredit this typically, but it did come from Textbook, so I would have to assume with 99% certainty that this is correct. It's fairly interesting... I will have to read up about it.

Yeah it will work on certain drives.. M25, M28, etc.. but some it will not...such as Hitachi 78 or 79.. If it is flashed already w/ iXtreme and you want to upgrade to the newest iXtreme you can dump your current FW and bad flash it like a M28 and there is no need for the original FW...
