The clear case that I want has holes for 5 80 mm fans. Will I be able to run all 5 of the fans off the mobo/psu? Also Does anyone recommend any other types of fans (or UV lights etc that will make my setup look sweet?) This will be my first build and I am trying to do it right. The PSU that I have on my list is also quite pricey but I was told that it was a good one to get... The fans are my biggest question at this point. I want to run all 5 fans...

Let's talk about your wish list first. That motherboard is a bit outdated. Get this instead.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813186148

Are you sure you want an E8400? A quad core would be a much better choice. A q6600 for example. Also a Freezer 7 Pro is a better CPU cooler and approx. the same price.

NOW let's talk about that case of yours. It sucks. It's not good for cooling, and it looks horrible. Can you imagine playing a game in the dark with that thing? You will rip out hair out.

Get this case. It's a bit more but you wont have to buy fans and it will be MUCH better. And it still has those cool lights you seem to like :)

If you want something cheaper, then get this.

Why go with quad core when I do not do anything intensive. I do not game at all - the most intensive thing I do is extract 5 GB RAR files. I browse the net, do HW, and dl stuff. I think dual core is a much better way to go as I will probably not ever utilize 4 cores. I will check out all of your other recommendations..

It's a Quad core and more future proof. It will last longer and is only 10 bucks more.

By your logic, don't even get a E8400. Just buy your self a E5200 and save yourself the money. BTW, what video card are you getting?

I am not exactly sure what card I am getting. I just want to be able to OC up to near 4 GHz.

lol

Do you have any experience with overclocking? Dont rush into it. lol So much for "I dont need horsepower".

I'm telling you, get a Q6600. I know what I'm talking about.

Ok you changed my mind. What card do you think I should go with? No I don't have any experience with OC'ing, although I have a lot of experience with PC's (rebuilding etc). In the past I have always fixed other people's PC's, but now I am going to finally build my own. So what card do you think I should go with, and do I really need a PSU that is so expensive? I would like to get the price down a little bit on everything. I am still messing with my wishlist though as I hope to have it complete in a month or so, so that I can have everything for Christmas. I also wouldn't mind putting a neon or something inside the case. I do like the case you picked out and I might go with that. I just thought the clear one was pretty sweet. There are some other clear cases as well.

I have never seen a clear case that has had good cooling. You can probably reach 3.6Ghz on the Q6600 if you get a Tuniq Tower for a cooler.

Go to overclock.net and go to their for sale section. See if you can buy a Tuniq Tower or a Q6600 used. That should save you some money. Plus older Q6600s overclock better anyway.

About the graphics card, are you going to be doing heavy gaming? How much are you looking to spend on it? Prices should be down a lot by Christmas as a lot of new stuff is coming out at the end of October.

No gaming, but I would like to have nice outputs (IE DVI, S-Video).. I wouldn't mind getting a tuner card. Will that allow me to run Satellite direct and record etc? What other benefits would that have?

I was looking at this card

EVGA 640-P2-N824-AR GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB 320-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail

but I am not sure if I am even wasting my money because I do no gaming. I just want a nice clean look on my monitor 26". Good resolution...

No gaming? See if you can find a cheap 8600GT on craigslist or something.

If you want new, this is good.

The 640MB 8800GTS is outdated and overpriced. Dont get it because its way too powerful for your needs.

We as in the people at afterdawn. Some of here hang out to help peeps out. So I guess thats "we", although it applies to any Afterdawn member.

Here check it out. There are some really good people there. The most I have overclocked is a E6750 to 4Ghz, but those were my naive days.

Parts are all excellent except the case. Get a case with big 120 or 140mm fans like the NZXT Tempest, it will cool a high powered PC much better. Also, the 640MB 8800GTS is ancient and therefore overpriced, Abuzar is right to steer you off it, you either want something like an HD4850 for gaming, or if you only need a decent resolution picture but don't play games, an HD3450 like the one he linked you to will be fine.

I just recommended the Antec 900 because it's 20 dollars cheaper and no rebates.

and feels so too, in its manufacture. As popular as the Antec 900 goes, ignoring the design defects that annoyed me, it is built to a price, you can feel it. Not quite Sunbeam / early Raidmax cases cheap, but cheap nonetheless. NZXT are far from perfect here either, but score far higher. I can only name one manufacturer that has never made a cheap case - Lian Li.

No, but I have both versions of the Lexa, and the latter Blackline is built from the same material as the Tempest - it's far from perfect in construction, but i can tell you now, the side panel hooks aren't going to bend out of shape so a gap is left underneath when you screw the side on...
