Today I purchased a phenomenal 30$ headset from Wal-Mart. It is a HP Premium Stereo Headset. It have 2 3.5mm jacks. One 2 ringed for line audio, and one 1 ringed for mic out.

Now I have the speaker jack ran through an adapter that puts the sound from my 360 to my speakers. I understand that this is locked at the current level because there is no outside power source amplifier. But it plenty loud.

As for the mic. I have cut the tip off and soldered the wires into a Xbox 360 headset box. Now the mic works, BUT it is very quiet. Is there anyway to boost the level of the mic? Say through a transformer or something?

Any help would be much appreciated.

EDIT:
I have a couple of cut USB cables around. what just poped into my my was maybe using the + and - cables and soldering them to the mic spots accordingly. Would that work or would it fry my headset?

I already have mine. All I want to know is if using the + and - from a USB will give it power, and boost the mic.

won't work as you'll fry it. you need an amplifier to do what you want to do.

Would it possible to make one myself easily? I mean like the speaker "altoids box" amp?

i personally don't know for the xbox 360 but there is for stereos which have mic inputs. moving this to the xbox 360 forum as not a pc hardware issue.
