Hey there, i have a maxtor external HD 300 gig that i was going to use for backing up dvds and playing them on my ps3, i have converted the HD to FAT32, and changed my .avi file to .mp4 the format that is supposed to be compatable with the ps3 (this is my 1st time trying to do this). when i plug the HD into the usb port on the ps3 it shows the drive, and the Video folder i created on the HD, but it shows "no playable media found"
Ive double checked everything ive pressed the triangle to get the full browse of the drive and everything is there, but when i click on the "video" folder i created it shows that the folder is empty, when in fact there are mp4 videos in the folder but they just wont show up on the ps3.
anyone have any kind of advice for what to do on this subject? ive seen various threads with other similar problems, but none that applied exactly to what im going through.
i used ps3 video 9 to convert the .avi file to a .mp4
and used partition magic to format the HD to fat32
Do you have the original .avi file? If you do, try putting just that into the video folder. The PS3 can read some .avi files, so there might not be any need to convert it.
just put 3 different .avi movie files onto the HD, they show up as a media file, but as unsupported data, its weird because they show up at least, the .mp4 file doesn't even show up. any other advice anyone?
