I've gone through the forums and finally installed my Wiikey. My problem is that when I have it installed neither originals or backups work. If I unhook any one wire originals work again fine. I tested each connection with a multimeter and all of them had a reading.

When I insert the disks the spin for a few minutes then stop; instead of spinning until the game comes up. I played around with an original disk while I had the hardware open and if I had the game working, ejected it, held the removed wire down to the contact and reinserted the same disk it would not start.

Thinking that the chip is possibly bad? Not sure where to go from here.

Suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Can you take a picture of the install?

I'm currently at work but maybe tonight. Basically I installed it using the wires provided with the normal installtion. The only exception is the my #3 was damaged (after the second time of reinstalling the chip, my fault) so I soldered it to the 5th leg on the chip as shown in the "Help with Installing my Wiikey" post in this forum.

The reason I think the chip is bad is that the originals work fine when the one wire is disconnected. When I hook it back up the whole thing craps out. So I am reasoning that the signal is making it to the Wiikey and screwing up.

Is this an incorrect train of thought?
