I've burned a film onto both DVD+R and DVD-R using DVD dycrypter, DVD2one and Nero. The DVD plays on my pc but not on my DVD player or Playstation 2. Why could this be? my dvd player manufacturer is Scott which plays mp3s, kodak pictures disc etc

From your brief explanation it would be merely speculation on my part.
What version of Nero are you using & are you using UDF/ISO or DVD-Video mode within Nero ? ?

It's probably the discs themselves and their compatibility with your DVD Player and has nothing to do with your burning procedures.
I burnt some DVD's which worked on my computer and PS2 but didn't play on my DVD Player.
So i used a different brand (TDK) and they worked perfectly.

What software are you using to play it on your PC? How are you playing it (by just double clicking the files on the dvd)? Ive had the same problem and found I was copying incorrectly.

the media brand doesnt realy effect the playability- no matter what media- it should have at least loaded. PS2 plays both + and - R- what i think it is is that you just burned the files to dvd- you need to stick the files in a folder called VIDEO_TS and burn the folder (not just the files) to dvd.

Quite right , pcshateme,
Thats why I asked if burning in Nero using UDF/ISO or DVD-Video & also what version of Nero ??
But yet to hear a definitive answer on that !;-)
(Version matters , especially if still using Nero 5.X.X.X)

i use Nero 6 and drag the files into its premade VIDEO_TS folder- if you dont have Nero 6 you should seriously consider splurging on it its a realy valuble tool. its alot more improved over v. 5

Yes I have Nero version 5.5. When I select the video_ts folder it displays the files automatically.

Try getting Nero updated to Nero 6 (the Ultra Edition if possible) , it's seriously a lot better...
[dont forget to fully uninstall previous version thoroughly first though , as this is a bit of a bug-bear in Nero].

I just want to make a note about that site with teh DVD compatibility. I used it to check mine,a nd it told me that i could not use dvd+r on my Samsung m101, so i tried a Ritek +r and it worked flawlessly. So take any info from there with a grain of salt.

I agree , it is only a guideline ( a helpful one , most of time - lol)
Slofire , did you leave a review adding that said player could indeed play +R media ?
