Mac user here - software for playing MKV content on PS3?

Just got my PS3, tried putting a vob file as well as several .TS folders in my Movies folder to stream it over to the PS3 using MediaLink but they did not show up so i went looking here and i guess you need to convert those files or something.

Then i found this software but it's Windows only it appears. Any software like this but for the Mac users out there?

Also, where do you find good Mac software for making backup copies of your PS3 and 360 games? Thanks in advance :)
