NTHell MMDS broadcasts using Cable frequencies through the MMDS aerial. This allows a Box with a cable tuner (The Box, Eurovox etc.) to be used for Cable/MMDS NTHell & Chor*s Cable.
Chor*s MMDS broadcasts on Terrestrial Frequencies & therefore requires a Box with a Terrestrial receiver (The Box T or similar).
Hope this helps.

cheers newbie,
does the n-l mmds need a down convertor or a powerinsertor or is this just for ch-r-us mmds. this is because i done a box in north dublin and they had ntl cable with a small black box.the cable going in from the n-l box on the wall,+power and a n-l cable going into the back of the s/super box. would this be a convertor box. cheers jaye2x

The MMDS aerial on the roof has a downconvertor built in. The power supply for the donwconvertor is the Black Box that you saw in the house. This power supply can sometimes be in the attic too but is always required for MMDS.

What sort of box did you sell him? As MMDS said above you need a box - T for chor*s mmds and a box - C for n*l mmds.

jhaye2x,
both broadcast on microwave frequency... MMDS ( microwave miltypoint distrobution system ) N*l mmds broadcast on microwave frequency qam64 and then it is downconverted DVB -C, Cho*us aswell use mmds but is "cofdm" and not qam so you use DVB-t

Any idea what part of dublin he is? If he is chor*s cable he needs a box c and needs to scan on symbol rate 6875, if he is chor*s mmds he will need a box t.

Its N** MMDS so any standard DVB C box will do, e.g. Eurovox, Starview, Dbox2, Dreambox, etc, etc.

Find it hard to get them on fleabay although a few are coming back.

No your Dbox2 will work it will need a new service scan thats all. No need for a different tuner as said N** MMDS is DVB C.

I see dvbjunkieuk.com have 12 showing in stock, just about to order one myself, just a bit worried now though that ch***s may make them unusable in the near future, still tying to sift though all the forums/posts to see how soon if at all!!
