[b]Boy am I irritated beyond words! I just bought Nero8 Pro 3 weeks ago and opened up my email this morning to see "Nero 9 released!...click here to upgrade....". I sent an email to customer service telling them that it would have been nice if they had been on the ball and not kept this a secret until it's release date!
I haven't had the time to really get to know Nero8....and if they had spilled the beans about the new upgrade I would have waited....[b]

Run, do not walk away from Bloatzilla. Better off with Nero 6 or Nero 7. This makes Nero 8 look like a miniature toy poodle compared to a sheep dog. Stay with IMGBurn and the likes for now until they shave all of the unnecessary bloatware out of it.

Can you be a little more specific about some of the things that are wrong with Nero 9, other than just calling it all bloatware?
When I upgraded to Nero 8, I found some functions that were unnecessary, so I ignored them and/or deactivated any resident-memory garbage I didn't need. The Nero BackItUp scheduler, for example, was axed. So was that indexing service that kept cropping up at random times for no discernible reason.
The result was a real increase in performance over Nero 7. For example, I typically ignore Startsmart and launch Nero Express or NeroVision directly to take care of most of my audio and video projects. They work a lot better than Nero 7 did at the same tasks.
I wonder if the same might possibly be true of Nero 9. If a lot of it is bloatware, fine. I'll just do what I did for Nero 8 and use what's left. What I want to know is if the basic functionality of Nero 8 has been improved in Nero 9 after the bloatware is gone.
Any comments in that regard? Have you actually installed this upgrade and used it to the point where you know how the essential features work minus the bloatware you don't like?
As a new guy to Nero software, I'm interested in knowing some simple things, like can it easily do a straight DVD-to-DVD copy without a lot of hassles. I have made a number of DVDs from my old VHS video tapes, and I'd like to easily share them with my family and friends.
