Here's a video to show you how much air this thing is moving. I'm convinced if i did the xclamp replacement with as5 it would drop temps down to 5F above room temp.

Took awhile to cut the case because my dremel is a pos "as seen on tv" dremel.

i think it only took a couple hours total. I can do rol rf boards in 15 mins, do the controllers in 10 mins, all the rest was easy to hook up. I did break the connector off one of the xcmv2 fans so i had to solder it back on. And i had to figure out the hard drive led, but that came after this video.

I figure i should have something extreme, so when people ask me what i can do to their xbox they can see the options they have.

Hey C4RN1 great jobs on those cases they look great. I was looking for some advice on a case mod. I was wondering if you ever did case swaps, and knew of a place to get a case with all the mounts.

What I want to do is do a custom case, but be able to revert back to stock if i ever have any problems and need to send it in. I wanted to remove the mesh, and add the whisper fans. And also do you know if it is possible to even add the fans and keep it seeming stock, or does this require soldering that would be obvious if they checked it?

And what type of solder, and types/wattage soldering iron would you recommend?

first of all you'll need a new metal case

If you want to do the ring of light, and be able to revert it back to stock buy another rf board.

I use radio shack solder it's 60/40 rosin core and a radioshack 15 watt iron. You won't need this if you buy a premodded ring of light on ebay.

If you do send it in there are stickers everywhere on the console that have to match. I didn't match the one in the front usb port area and it was rejected. So cut the metal case that you buy so if you have to send it back everything will match.

Oh... almost forgot the talismoon fan just plugs right in, if you have an hdmi console don't worry, it comes with an adaptor.

Awesome thanks for the info, I might be trying this after mine is delivered as long as it still has my benq drive (same serial #, so i'm hoping). If I do go through with it i'm planning on not removing any stickers or anything if i don't have to, so i can just stick everything back in the original case.

You shouldn't have any problems with the main seal refurb sticker on the front, it really doesn't do anything, i've just pulled the case apart without damaging that sticker. If it's the original microsoft silver sticker you'll need to use a hairdryer. The dvd drive sticker will aslo be a problem though. Use a razorblade and a hairdryer and it should come up a lot easier. The point is not to wrinkle it. If i were you i'd take it all the way off and put it on a piece of wax paper to save it (both of them actually). Other than that get a t10 and a t8 and an opening tool and you'll be set.

I should also add that if you buy a xcm case it will come with an opening tool.

Ya I am about to buy an xmc case this week if i finally decide on one for my first mod I am going to try to keep it fairly simple so i am still looking, I will be posting some pics soon if all goes well(fingers crossed)
