More along the lines Nero isnt too bright when it comes to control over your DVD burner. could also be that your model burner isnt supported by your version of Nero thus Nero WILL recognize it but it doesnt know to be able to write faster then 4x.

I got the same problem. NEC 8x burner. Someone at the internetshop.com place where I bought it said that it could be a compatibility issue. Sure enough, I bought Ritek 8x dvds and they are NOT on the compatible list. Ooops. Hopefully that will fix it. Haven't tried any other blanks yet.

What version of Nero are you using? You might try the Nero 6 demo to see if that solves your problem.

You might also try downloading the demo version of Record Now DX and see if that works. I use version 4.5 with my Plextor PX-708A and get burn times of just under 9 minutes with TDK 4X +R's (manuf. by Ricoh).

MrKyle, you and I are in the same boat right now. We should post here when one of us comes up with an answer--probably goes without saying : )

Have any of you tried a force 8x brun using DVD Decrypter and burning an ISO. This should force the media to be burnt at 8x, unless it is an actually 4x media.
