I can stream my music no problem, but when i try to play divx/avi my xbox says I need to go on xbox live to get an update. problem is that my xbox is banned, so is there anyway to make Tversity to work playing video on a banned console?

not sure how you would go about it but the reason it needs to go on live is (i think).. is because you need the video codec.. at least thats what mine did..

as for any other way to get it i have no idea.. google it.... you might be able to get the codec and manually put it on ur HD...
