@evnflow: thanks a lot for this guide and the .rar compilation!!

Just had a few questions about some things mentioned in this thread:

1) Could you elaborate on what steps to take with the DVDX program? I opened the program and saw that it looked more like a DVD movie tool than anything else.

2) If you have a PAL ISO and you use WiiFrii to convert it to NTSC do you also have to patch that new NTSC ISO with the wii Backup Creator?

Thanks again for the guide and links!!

Wii sucka!!

That was it! I removed my GC cards and tried to load a few programs and they loaded right up.
Remove ALL Game Cube Save Cards.

@crew322..for dvdx..go into the homebrew channel and then select DVDX..this should bring up a black screen asking you to install it..select the "advance install" option..once the next screen pops up..push right on your wii remote until you come to ISO249..this is the option you want..then install..also yes you have to still patch the iso if you use WIIFRII to convert the ISO to NTSC..or vice versa..

@senzafine..send me a pm

@rob..yes you can have Waninkoko's and Wiigator's loaders installed at the same time..

envflow: was this guide for U.S. users?

I noticed that in the WAD folder you have the [Opera Internet Channel - PAL.wad] file. Wouldn't this conflict with the NTSC standard required by U.S. televisions?

Thanks, tried it earlier and got it working. It's awesome because my g/f really wanted Big Brain Academy which was gSoD'ing on waninkoko. Don't know why everybody wouldn't have both.

@evnflow: Also, is there any thing else included in your .rar compilation that would pose a compatibility risk to a user with an NTSC Wii/TV?

@crew322..there shouldn't be anything in htere that will be a conflict for NTSC T.V.'s..i have an NTSC tv..the pal wad is there for any other tv's..even if you installed the pal wad, it would only most likely give you a black and white screen for that wad..or would scroll up and down..but nothing that would hurt anything..

@the_rob..there are 1 or 2 games that would play better with waninkoko's loader, that wouldn't on wiigator's...but for the most part..wiigator's is far more superior..from what i've read, wiigator used a portion of waninkoko's source code..just made it a lil' better/compatible..but really i was just too lazy to take it off my SD card..haha

alright so I finally got everything installed. No problems what-so-ever. Everything installed perfectly fine. Very happy about it cuz I'm uber scared about bricking my Wii.

Anyway, next step is to burn a backup copy of a Wii game.

Just wanted to report back and thank evnflow for the easy noob-friendly guide. Great work!!

Would you guys recommend this over modding? Here's my situation:

I have a Wiikey in my Wii and it's fine but from time to time I need to download updates and other times I need to jump through a lot of hoops to get games to work (SSBB for example). But this isn't for me it's for my nephews who live far enough away that I can't just drive over there on a whim to help them with their problems.

If all that they have to do is click on a custom channel and pop in a disk with minimal headaches, I will do all of the reading and set this up for them. But is this a safer (from bricking) than modding? Also, I'd imagine that it's kind of an open source thing where advanced users could do updates and share with the community unlike WiiKey that rarely comes out with updates (not that I have really needed them thus far).

Well, this method is DEFINITELY safer as you aren't fiddling around on the inside of the Wii. However, the wiikey is known to have higher compatibility to soft-mods. So, its your call

I was thinking, is this safe if Nintendo releases required update? Like if an update is embedded within a game and is required to isntall before the game will play.. is this safe if the Wii has this thing installed onto it? Is it removable? Can it possibly cause a brick in future wii updates?

i'm prety sure that it will be fine..it's using a custom ios..so it should be fine, but everything is a possibility..but you can uninstall and revert it back to it's default OS..

Wiigator has released a beta3 of his new launcher. from what i can tell (which isn't alot) its designed to boot off a SD card?

Have installed it ok on one wii, but it didnt run a game that worked with the previous launcher....

And couldn't get it to install on another wii at all.

Anyway someone else mite have more luck than me.

Heres the link: http://atkinx.com/tag/wiigator/

Ok so I thought I'd post an update.

WiiGator 0.3 does seem to be very good (but can't get it to load Star Wars The Force Unleashed, and does sometimes say that theres a problem turn off and restart, but it beta release what do you expect)

AS for firmware 3.4, Don't Do It To Yourself, It Not Worth It wads don't install, wiigator 0.3 wouldn't install, downgrader doesn't work, although u will get a successful message and the wii will say the firmare you want, its not.

Full release of 0.3 is due about the 3rd week of November, hopefully some has or will chuck it in a channel to save loading through the HBC and the SD card.

Upon tinkering somemore.... I dno't think Backup Loader 0.1 works with cIOS that is required to run backup loader 0.3..... Hence you can only have one loader worker at a time...

I run loader 0.3 from the SD card and run loader 0.1 from the main wii menu because I've found some games won't load from 0.3 and some won't load from 0.1 and will work vice versa. For me, Star Wars force unleashed works patched and on loader 0.1 so give that a try.

Thats how i have mine set up, but i can't get them working under the same settings. I keep having to install different cIOS's to run each loader.

What settings are you running?

update on the front page for wiigator's version 3 beta backup launcher..made a channel for it..one that will overwrite the previous channel from this package..and also put up just the WAD file, in case you already have wiigator installed..so you can have a channel now..
