you sure its 3.71 not 2.71 because this message will only appear for people who have a TA-082 psp and have downgraded it to 1.50 without fixing the keys.

only way to fix this as far as i know is ether downgrade to 1.50 and fix the keys (dont know what program it i) only if your on 2.71

if you are on 3.71 then try pandoras battery and see if that allows you to update.

right you bought it second hand right?

if so then the previous owner had downgraded to 1.50 and then updated to offical firmware to trade it in.

if it is on 3.71 i can only think that they must have used pandoras battery to get to 3.71 ofw

so the only way that i think you can update is to do it through pandoras battery and Despertar del Cementerio v7 to get to 4.01 ofw

or if you there you might as well go to cfw and then there wont be any future problem for updating

pandoras battery is basicly a way of by passing a sony check so you can install anything onto the psp as long as the memory stick is set up correctly

read this http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/610313

im sure there may be a easier way but its the only one that i know of to get round it

I appreciate that so much but i am not a hacker.. ill just get another one cant believe this. Game stop should really look at this carefully when they get them traded in.... Any how thanks for the help wish there was a way to start the psp from scratch from the factory the bad thing is that sony wont do anything with it because it is used and they are really rude.

sorry that you happened to fall victim to it.

but i would not say the i am 100% right

see if someone else posts back with a better solution as i may be wrong.

im sure game stop would have been unaware of this type of problem but should have updated it to the newest fw for you
