I not sure this is the right forum, but I will ask anyway.
I want to buy a PSP Slim here in the UK. I want to be able to put PSX games on it to play from a memory card. I believe the newer PSP Slims are not hackable currently so I would prefer not to get one.
How can I tell here in the UK the firmware of the PSP is hackable? Is there a way to check on the barcode?
I have searched the internet but I can only find old information.
You may be right...like i said, don't really keep up on the PSP scene anymore.
But AFAIK, you cant MAKE a pandora on some of the newer slims, but you can still use one someone else made, or a Datel TOOL battery.
If thats not right, i'm sure one of the other guys will correct me soon.
Assuming im right...where abouts in the UK are you? if you need a hand with any of the modding gimme a shout. i could possibly downgrade your PSP for you (free of charge of course as your an AD member :) ), or i could even sell you my TOOL battery and MMS, as i don't have my PSP any more.

you can't... you've already done what you needed to do... regarding 3.95 ...
i've never heard of a TA88 v3 coming with 3.95 ... they always have 4.01. is it possible ?? sure... but maybe an asteroid can hit the planet too..
only way to be sure is to try pandora + MMS ... its a very good possibility it will work... btw my slim came with 3.95 too and it has CFW now just fine !!
This is all so confusing. I am reading in certain places that if your barcode sticker has a G in the top right corner, it means you have the new motherboard(mine has the G). I then read that might not be the case. Then I read this :
'The new TA-088v3 boards only come in 4.xx and above. The new pre-IPL in these boards can only boot the 4.xx IPL?s, it cannot boot older IPL?s from 3.xx. So as long as the PSP doesnt come with 4.xx fw you know it won?t be a v3 board. Just remember, v3 boards cannot run firmwares under 4.xx.'
So that would work out with what Donaldo says. And also, as Donaldo says, the best way to check is to get the Datel Tool battery and go from there!
