On Monday we reported that Apple was threatening to close down iTunes if the Copyright Royalty Board voted to raise digital music distribution royalty fees.
It appears however that fans of the iTunes store need not worry as the vote has come through and the rates will remain unchanged, at least for the near future.

Did anyone actually believe they were going to shut down?
No matter what happened, or didn't happen?
Music, video and player sales now constitute 40 percent of Apple's income.
Personally, if the price hike had happened, I'd have loved to see them shut down, even if it was only temporary and symbolic.
I love these PR moves, Apple is such a joke. I think they knew they were't gonna raise them but just wanted some attention to make it seem like they're for the consumer. I actually was hoping that they would get raised so they can drop iTunes.
