Hi guys

is there a way I can check on my laptop to see if my video card supports a VGA-Out cable into a TV, to use it as a monitor (watch movies on my TV)?

Thanks

What connectors are visible at the rear of your machine? A blue rectangular set is an analogue out, while the white rectangular is a Digital out. Is there a small round multi pinned outlet also? Depending on age these will vary. Goto device manager and select your card and then select properties...what are the options stated there?

My Ati radeon states that I can have two monitors and a TV out...(that's the "s" socket out put)

Cheers.

Edit: in bold... what make and model is your laptop? the more info the better.

These are some elements too look for (as onya suggests)that allow for TV out on your laptop-

- DSUB

-DVI

- S-Video

hope this helps :)

Thanks for the reply guys

My laptop info:

Model: Toshiba Satellite L300-07R
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium 32-Bit
HDD: 200 GB
RAM: 3GB

@ elmunkee, the DSUB port on my laptop looks exactly like the one you posted, except its blue.

yeh, your laptop has a VGA port (DSUB) so all you would need to do is attatch your monitor to the VGA port with a VGA cable and set the output to "external monitor"(or something along those lines) within windows

Thanks elmunkee

If I want to use my television as an external monitor, using this cable:

Will I also hear the audio on my laptop through the television?

Thanks
