Ok, so I got a PSP Slim in July and I've decided I want to hack it so I can start playing with Homebrew. I was playing on using this guide http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/610313. Can you still use this guide if your OFW is 3.95? Alot of this lingo is confusing me...
Also, if I do install the CFW will I be able to revert it back to the original firmware easily?
I'm sure I'll think of more questions later but that's all I have for now.
Depending on how fast I get responses I might be hacking it tonight! :D

Depends, you may have a TA-088 v2 motherboard. Which can only downgrade with DC7. You can try though.
Yes, you can change back to the original firmware.

How do you tell if you have that kind of motherboard? If I do, will it totally screw my system?
What is DC7 and how do you do that?

First off, thanks for your speedy replies and calmly answering my (probably) stupid questions.
Second, if I try to run Pandora and I have the TA-088 v2 motherboard will it mess up my system? Or will it just remain in it's original state and just not have CFW on it?

Ok guys I tried doing the Pandora battery/Magic Memory stick the old way. I put the magic memory stick in, and then I put the battery in. The light turns green but the orange light doesn't flash. I press X and nothing happens. Does this mean I have the motherboard of fail?

i think the 88 v3 has been very much overhyped here in the forum. the people most susceptible to it are in Japan or nearby in asia somewhere...
you say you bought it in July .. again that just leads me to believe its not 88 v3 ...
its far more likely you made the memory stick wrong ... i would follow larry's tutorial exactly ... don't skip anything.
if that doesnt work try PSP Grader... until you've tried about 5 or 6 things i wouldn't assume anything about the motherboard.

Ok so I tried that program my friend sent me and PSP Grader v006 and still it doesn't work. The screen is black, no white text, and the orange light doesn't flash. The power light is the only thing that turns on.
Now, part of me was thinking, could this be because I'm not an admin on the computer? When I was doing the tutorial on the forum I noticed these steps didn't show up.

and

At first I figured that it was because it was an updated installer or old instructions..something along those lines. It never struck me as a "I'm not a Admin" problem because all the installers (Grader v006) said "Installer completed successfully!". Now, is the installer lying to me? Or do I just need to find yet another new program to try?
If its another new program I need, got any recommendations?

see this is the problem... people say they followed larry's tutorial but in fact they didn't.
you must see every screen larry has in his tutorial EXACTLY the way he shows them... you can't skip any of the screens or miss any of them.
if you aren't seeing the exact series of screens larry shows there is something wrong with the way your doing it, your computer, your OS, who knows... there is nothing wrong with the tutorial !

Alright this time I actually did follow his tutorial exactly and saw every screen. It didn't work though. I even tried a couple different set ups with all the files it came with. At one point I got it to read the memory card and the orange light flashed. Then I'd press X and the orange light would flash for a couple seconds then turn off the PSP completely. Pandora's Battery was still inside it this whole time. If I did the same steps but then pressed square and the light flashed repeatedly for a good 2 minutes. Then nothing, it went back to the black screen. What does this mean? The screen never showed any white text on the black screen.

I assume you asked this because the battery could be the problem, correct? Doesn't the fact that the PSP turns on by itself as soon as you insert the batty mean it works?

Um? Don't think so? I couldn't get it to work for the longest time. Today I tried PSP Grader v006 again for the hell of it and...it worked! Atleast, I'm pretty sure it worked? That's what the 4.01 M33 thing means right?
