According to the latest figures from Enterbrain, the Microsoft Xbox 360 has outsold its rival the Sony PlayStation 3 in Japan for the month of September marking the first time the console has ever outsold Sony on its home turf.
The strong sales came mostly after Microsoft slashed the prices of its console across the board and for the month Microsoft sold 53,547 units compared to Sony's 33,071 units.

Not sure what you mean by the "rats"- unless it's an allusion to "...deserting a sinking ship".
That's not fair to those companies- who are obliged to make a profit for their shareholders. A quick search on Wikipedia for a list of games those companies have produced will show that over the years they have made games for all platforms including PC.
I know Sony bought a controlling share in Square Enix a few years back when they had financial troubles; forcing them to become exclusive for a while. Those shares have been bought back and they are no longer obliged to produce games for the PS only. Certainly the games they have produced for the X360already (eg. Infinite Undiscovery) have not been hailed as great. It IS reported that FF XIII will come out in Europe and the US on the X360. Why not Japan? one can only speculate.
