Hi everybody.
I'm looking for a new battery for my laptop. Packard Bell EASYNOTE BG46-U-013D. I bought the laptop without a battery at my local computer store for a cheaper price, because they had lost the battery since the laptop was a demo in the store. I asked them if it was possible to order a new battery for the laptop, and so they tried. They said I should stop by them next Friday. And as said, as done. And they haven't got it yet. So this went on and on and on, so I figured I could order it by my self.

So, over to my question. What type of battery am I looking for? I have no experience with laptop batteries, and don't know how many cells it should be and so on.

The SN on the laptop is: 105812590388

Also, I live in Europe, in Scandinavia (or Norway, if you like). I don't know if that has any infect on my choice of battery.

Thank you.

I'll share my limited experience with you. Unfortunately as you don't have the battery it'll probably be quite a bit harder to identify. For mine the S/N for the battery is on the battery itself. What you could do is either lookup specs for your laptop online, take a look at the same model at a physical store, or search laptop battery websites by computer model.

The online battery market does seem pretty sketchy though and I don't 100% the compatibility of those lists with the models they say, I specifically looked up my S/N.

Traditionally most laptops use a 6-cell battery, while there are 9/12-cell batteries available out there, they will stick out the back of the laptop and extend the size of your laptop.

I ended up buying my 12-cell from ebay off the user batterystars (Store name is Star Batteries). You have to be careful about the cheap units from China though as it can be hit/miss with them. For me the discount was worth it, normally they run for 200$+ CAD here, I bought mine for 63$. It works well, but I do have some issues with it. I'm not sure if it's the BIOS or the battery, but my laptop has problems reading it correctly in both Linux and XP. I never have an accurate gauge for how much battery life is left because it charges like a normal 6-cell, and after about 2 1/2 hours of life it says it has 0% life left, and then it'll run another 2 1/2 hours. The only real issue with this is if the computer goes into standby or shutdown after it "thinks" the battery is dead, it won't start back up until you stick a charger back in it. I'm still trying to solve this problem

Good luck with your purchase.

I tried ebay for you. I was able to come up with this.
