How to play newer Demos w/ older CFW

I just recently installed CFW 3.71 M-33 on my PSP from OFW 4.05 so I could play Final Fantasy VII on it. From what I have read, this is the most stable CFW for most PSX games.

The problem I am having now is that I can't play any of the demo's I downloaded that require firmware higher than 3.71. Does anyone know of a way to get around this restriction? I really liked some of these demos and I would rather not have to wait until I finish FF7 to play them again?

I have read that there was a way to do this with UMD's but I haven't heard of a way with Demo's.

Any help would be really appreciated!

You mean the demos that are in eboot format right ?

Yes, I was referring to the demo's that you can download off the PSN store that are in eboot format.

I read through the instructions but it seems like this procedure is meant for UMD's. Can I use the UMDGEN program for the eboot files?

4.01 M33-2 is just as stable for PSX games.

If you go HERE and download the 3.80 M33-4 popsloader version you can use it with 4.01 M33-2 as well.

Get NP Decryptor

Download a game demo like .God of War.

Find the demo's directory named something like this "ms0:\PSP\GAME\UCUS98713".

Then rename the "EBOOT.PBP" file found in that folder to "NP.PBP".

Copy the "npeg.prx" and "EBOOT.PBP" from the NP Decryptor .zip file to the demo's directory.

Now run the game named "NPEG-RV"



NP Decryptor will check the game and tell you how large the .ISO will be. Press X to start the dump.



When it's done use UMDGEN to delete the PSP_GAME\SYSDIR\UPDATE folder or do as mrgooey suggest.
