First off I have searched the forums and havent found a definitive answer for my question so I decided to ask it as plainly as I can
I have a samsungdvd drive for my 360 that no longer reads games, it only reads dvds and cds.
I'm going to try replacing it with the same make and model samsung toshiba ts-h943.. I've heard and read all I have to do is take my original PCB key from my old drive and swap it with the one in the new drive, put the new drive in my 360 and I'm set..
BUT theres alot of dispute in what I've read and I don't know if
A: Doing this will get me banned on xbox live
B: I need to move any cables ALONG with my pcb key
C: there is any flashing required because I am replacing samsung With the same type and model of drive
D: theres anything I'm missing out

I know, but thats what I mean, I've searched and continue to search many forums and all the decisions are like split, alot of people say flash, and alot of people say flashing isn't required especially if the replacement drive has the same firmware (either MS25 or MS28 whathaveyou), all I am looking for is for someone who knows what I'm talking about and can say YES its simply a matter of swapping the boards in the drive or if flashing is required no matter what.
and no amount of searching thusfar has given me any definitive answer, just people talking about swapping hitachis with samsungs or vice versa and Flashing ms25's to go with ms28's and thats not what I need to know..
If I'm being an arrogant noob I apologize, I'm just a regular joe whos no tech wizard and wants to know what to do to the best of a laymans ability.
but for every two people who I see say that theres usually one that starts talking about flashing and the only flashing tuts are using vocab WAY beyond my range and I get all confused... Most likely I'm over-complicating things and the tut in that link is all I have to do, that being said I only need one tidbit of info and thats whats the significance of this?
I've seen vid tutorials of swapping the boards, some use the ribbon, some don't.. I BELIEVE its the laser ribbon, but once again I'm kinda in the dark to if it needs to be moved and if so why?
