This thread has confirmed a question i posed to you all some time ago... "is it possible to cheat on wii online?" Apparently it IS possible to hack the community.

So, i would like to start a new discussion... as the way i see it it is only a matter of time now that Nintendo will do anything possible to detect and ban modders to protect the online community from cheaters.

Cheating online is a plague to the community. It kills enjoyment and competition, and raises the red flag to Nintendo that "This is a SERIOUS issue".

This raises a new threat to Nintendo. One that demands much more attention, as it surpasses the "casual modders" who mod their systems for homebrew, and possibly copying games. These are specific cases that don't threaten Nintendo with any serious threat... BUT those who mod and cheat raise the bar a few notches... they are now not only doing all of the above, but they are now ruining the experience of others. This decreases the value of online play for the community at large, and poses a large threat to Nintendo to impose a watchdog to sniff out the modders and keep them off of the online service.

Understanding that its impossible to stop these fool cheaters from doing this, perhaps it is necessary to investigate our options and threats?
How do we protect ourselves best from being detected?

Should we stay off live?

What can we do to best safeguard ourselves?

If we are banned, what are we restricted from? Buying new content? Applying new patches (making new games un-playable to a modded wii)? Blocking from on-line activities such as RateMii, Opera browser, news, and weather? WiiConnect24? The shopping channel?

I want to end this with a short note... If you are bored with a game, and want to explore ways to hack... then by all means do so, but please don't interfere with the community. Doing so is painting a red target on all of our heads, and brandishing your A$$ at Nintendo is asking for a kicking. The kick will come if you are stupid enough with your judgment. Experimenting with how far you can push Nintendo before they act is a selfish act that might cause a lot of us some big problems in the future...

GG. go ahead and try to cheapen the debate... since your the one who inspired this thread to begin with by cheating online in the referenced thread... spamming bullet bills on mario kart online.

Shouldn't this have been posted in the safety valve?

There is a very simple way to avoid cheaters. Add friends that you trust to your friends list.

There will always be those that cheat online.

So why debate about it.

Sorry meatful2. But this is not xbox live where you can get banned.
Few people cheat online, anyway so nintendo doesn't care.

atcually i cheated once to see if i could make something that would do it for most of the time it would lose conection with your if you changed some of the iso files like faster cart ect better goally stuff like that but if yo do that and then mod your friends disk as well then it would work fine just not with anyone with a diffrent version so me and my friends made a super slow version of mariocart like slow all mod our disks and played vs each other must say when its snails pace its loads of fun as you have time to call them and go dont you dare get that shell :P but other then that with just friends i dont..

As long as you don't abuse your item, you won't get caught.
