Hi PPL
Just a quick question, i have a Wiikey and its running the 1.9B version, do i need to update it to 1.9s?
i havent got any new backups for the Wii for sometime now but the kids saw one "SAMBA" or something and didnt know if anything needed updating before i use the game...
i am happy enough letting the game update the Wii as its the same region but its just the WiiKey that i am worried about, thought i read somewhere that it might need to be updated before using any of the latest games.
Thanks

I have not updated to 1.9s and all my backups are up and running. My understanding is that so far, 1.9s is only needed to play original dual layer disks. So for, that means only one game, SSBB.
I could be wrong. If so, someone please correct me.

Pretty much. 1.9s also adds a few other features, like the ability to block updates from the disk, but I'm still using 1.9g and can play everything. I keep meaning to update but never get around to it.

Right now I'm sort of in the camp of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". I've read that many people have had problems when they update to 1.9s and 3.3U their backups stop working. Of course this is not the norm as many have report no problems at all. It's just that the ones who have problems can't downgrade back to where they can play their backups.
On a side note, I'm at 3.1U with my internet connnection off. When I turn it on, it asks me to update. If I say yes, will it update straight to 3.3U or update to 3.2U first. I wouldn't mind updating to 3.2U as I haven't read of any problems with that.

It will update to 3.3. The only way to get 3.2 is from a game that had that particular update in it, like mario kart.

I have an original Mario Kart and it did not update me to 3.2U. Any other game you know of that is supposed to have the 3.2U update on it?

I wanted to correct myself. I do have the original Mario Kart, but don't remember if I ever played the original. I have been playing the backup. I know the backup asked me to update, but I swear I am still at 3.1U. I'll have to check when I get home.
