I want to know if there are any issues with installing the homebrew channel on the wii, as well as if there are risks of installing/injecting wads. I have been curious as to whether Nintendo can track what channels you have on your wii, or if any traces of what you have done are saved on the wii, if there are memory issues with installing VC games or anything like that. Just want to make sure that it's risk-free or not

As of now no there is not any way Nintendo can tell. But that could all change in future updates.

I am sure when and if an update comes out there will probably be a work around for it soon after.

The wii strategically was built with the "bring the cost down" spirit (which is not a bad thing at the end of the day). Therefore, virtually there always be a way to hack it cause the strategic aspects of a machine cannot, at a reasonable cost, change.
So no worries :)
That's the way I see it

While nintendo could create an update to block the homebrew channel such an update would have a workaround from the modding community in a matter of days.

And I seriously doubt that they would make an update to brick people with the channel not only because that would be a huge PR disaster for them, but because again, there would be a workaround in very short order.

Anyway, from what I've heard nintendo does not seem to track what VC games you've downloaded. All that tracking is done on the user's side. Whenever you install a wad or DL a game from the online store it leaves a flag in the wii saying you downloaded it so you can DL it again without paying. Deleting the channel does not remove this flag, the only way to remove it is the wad manager. But if you were to delete the channel and leave the flag and go on the shop channel you would find that nintendo would allow you to download the game for free because you wii says you already downloaded it once. I dont know of anyone who has been banned or otherwise punished for this yet.
