hey guys,
well ive got the red ring on my 360 right now :( and the error code is 1023, as i understand means the "1023 DVD drive not connected, connect DVD drive to boot " but i was hoping someone had more information like what i can do about this?

i took the unit apart ( i already had before) and disconnected and reconnected the sata and power cables to the dvd drive. nothing. same problem. i went ahead and flashed my 360 dvd drive to its original firmware and still nothing. i also tried using 2 different video cables from the 360 to tv and still nothing :(

does anyone have any idea what i could do? does this mean the dvd drive is fucked or what should i do?

any information would be helpful thanks guys!

Did you check to make sure that the cables were plugged into the Motherboard correctly? I wouldn't think that your drive is F***ed, because you said you were able to go back to the other firmware. You could probably just buy new cables for the drive.

yeah i hooked up the drive to my pc and it seems to be reading everything fine ( i watched a bit of casino royale on it and loaded a game) so i think yer right about the drive.

i tried to replace the sata cable from the drive to the motherboard with a normal red sata cable, but that didnt seem to work. would you have to buy a special cable for it to work with the 360 and if so, do you know where i could buy one?

No, you don't need a special kind of SATA Cable for it to work. But you do need that cable for the Power to it. It sounds to me that it's just not getting power to the drive. You can actually buy replacement cables for those. Here's a link to them:
