Hi. I recently got my 360 "professionally" flashed. The thing is I have no games to test it on.

I have a dual layered DVD burner in my laptop computer. However, when I press the "book" button on dvdinfo a pop-up message reads "Drive or firmware does not support bitsetting, or wrong firmware".

I guess I'll have to get another/new dual layered DVD burner - right ? (Note: I currently have a Gateway HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T10N DVD drive/burner).
Any recommendations for a dl-dvd burner (something compatible, but affordable would be great).

But my main question is: Can an external dual-layered DVD burner work for backing up/burning 360 games or must it be an internal dual-layered DVD burner ?

Any info is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Is that message coming up when you're trying to backup a game, or when burning a backup? Because if you're trying to read a 360 game, you need a certain drive to do that! The one that you need is a Samsung "KREON" Drive. KREON is the firmware that is on the Drive, and those ones will read 360 games. You can find those on eBay, just look up KREON.

And as for external, you can buy the KREON Drive, and just get an enclosure for it, so that it can be external.

Hi DavGerm4 and thanks for the reply.

I get that pop-up message when I initially tried to burn a 360 dvd/iso file which resulted in a couple of Dynex-brand DL-DVD coasters.

I am leaning more toward an external DL-DVD burner since I only have a laptop right now. Any suggestions for external DL-DVD burners that can properly burn 360 games (brand, generic or otherwise)?

I've always used a Pioneer 111D Burner. I've had it for years, and it has worked flawlessly! I highly recommend that if you're looking for a good DL Burner.

Dynex brand coasters? You need to get some actual good media. If for some reason your dvd makes it out of the dvd burner, the 360 will just spit it out (most likely). Go buy some verbatims. Those are the best, typically will make the least amount of coasters, and will prolong the life of your 360's laser.
