No, you need to use a special kind of DVD drive to be able to read official Wii discs. I think there is a thread in the ultimate sticky sticky about which DVD drives work and where too get them

No you can remove the CIOS installer and the WAD manager if you want but you MUST keep the homebrew channel and ISO loader on the SD card/Wii

This is normally due to the speed at which you burn the disc. Try a good quality disc at 1x speed. If this isn't the problem, you may be using a duff .iso or the software might not be working for you.
Are you burning NTSC or PAL?

Hi all. Been running the twilight hack for a while and love the nes/snes emus. Figured I'd try out the soft iso and see how it works. I think PAL may be the way to go here? Anyone else tried the NTSC isos? I tried Zelda TWP iso in NTSC and was greeted with a green screen. I tried different media also, and so far dvd+rw and dvd+r have got me the farthest. The -r and other media I have tried greeted me with the (ret= -4100) error. Im working a PAL iso now so Ill report back if I have any luck with that over the NTSC. Any one know if the software version of your WII will make any signifigant difference on the compatibility of the ISO loader? Im on 3.3u and everything else emu wise has worked flawless. Not looking for too much guidance, just posting my findings and will do so as I make more pogress. Think Im close but i wonder if the PAL/NTSC is the key in your iso to make this work reliably. Anybody have any inpt on that aspect?
Thanks again Scott909 for this great thread!

You need to leave it 'stuck' at 0% for about 2 hours and it will sort itself out.

Ok, so I got my hands on a Super Mario Galaxy PAL ISO and ran through the procedure again. I used dvd-r and burned at 1x in image burn. Loaded the disc, launched the iso loader and it took a little bit but the game loaded right up. Thats the good news, the bad is, once I started playing, and made it to the first cut scene in the game (after you walk down some path and pick up a bunch of stars) the screen faded out, and stayed black. I left it for about 30 minutes and finally just turned it off. I tried again a few times and the same thing each time. So here is where a good question might be answered. Can someone confirm what type of iso you need for this hack? Does it have to be PAL or NTSC? Any one had success with NTSC? I tried a zelda NTSC iso and had 0 luck. The only thing I have left to test is an extraction from one of the wii games I own via the wireless as stated above a few post ago. Besides that, im at a dead end. Thanks!

airhammer, are you running your iso through the Backup Creator program before burning with imageburn? I pulled a no brainer and was burning the iso straight to disk and skipping that step, that also gave me the 4100 error. I have tried quite a few different types of media. The only ones that gave me trouble were the el cheapo dvd-r's. Otherwise I have been able to use all other kinds, +r, -r, and +rw.

Hey all
1st I would like to thank all the people who have worked on these homebrew apps and hacks.
I have installed all and its works fine, homebrew games and had an iso back up working of wii party.
I downloaded an iso, patched it like the instructions etc.. basically how I did it the 1st time which worked fine. Burnt it at 2.4x with my burner on the same bulpak dvd-r's I used on my 1st iso, when iso loader channel boots up it all goes fine, checks disc etc.. gets to the stage where it says no sd codes found and the disc spins up again then acreen goes blank and nothing. Have left for a while and still nothing, on top of that the wimote acts as if it is not synched to the wii.
Any ideas people. If it makes any difference im on 3.1e aswell.
Thanks for any help
Elvis
