1st I would like to thank all the people who have worked on these homebrew apps and hacks.

I have installed all and its works fine, homebrew games and had an iso back up working of wii party.
I downloaded an iso, patched it like the instructions etc.. basically how I did it the 1st time which worked fine. Burnt it at 2.4x with my burner on the same bulpak dvd-r's I used on my 1st iso, when iso loader channel boots up it all goes fine, checks disc etc.. gets to the stage where it says no sd codes found and the disc spins up again then acreen goes blank and nothing. Have left for a while and still nothing, on top of that the wimote acts as if it is not synched to the wii.
Any ideas people. If it makes any difference im on 3.1e aswell.
Thanks for any help
Elvis
Was the ISO you DL'd a PAL or NTSC?

Im running 3.3u so i wouldnt think that would be affecting you. I had the same problem your describing but it was using a zelda ntsc iso from a torrent site. I dl'd a pal iso to test and that actually let me into the game. Although not very far before the wii decided to do its own thing and leave me staring at a black screen forever. Looks like I'll be forking over the cash for a wasabi chip anyways.

Any one know if this soft mod is in active developement so we could expect to see any improvements like more game compatibility and slower load times?

Wiigator has a new beta version of the boot loader out. The claims of new added features is the use of unpatched backups. Supposedly there is a higher compatibility with unpatched games. Also DVDx is not required. Below is a list of changes that WiiGator has reported...

- Plays games which are decrypted (Most people call this patched).
- Plays games which are unchanged 1:1 backups.
- Drive speed is still 3x. It is so fast that some testers believed it is running at 6x.
- dvdx is not required. You can use dvdx also for playing DVD movies with a different application.
- The number of working 1:1 backups seem to be very high. Old games will not work, because of old IOS (e.g. Twilight Princess and Red Steel).
- The number of working decrypted games is smaller and depends on your Wii configuration. EDIT: This assumption may be wrong. I've got a different report from Waninkoko.
- Gamecube backups are not working.
- It installs as IOS249 v6. No uninstall is required if you have v6 or lower.

For more information go HERE.

Hello, this is my first post here and I registered on Afterdawn just to post this.

This post is in regards to an .ISO I have for Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition (USA, NTSC).

I got the "ERROR: Could not open disc subsystem! (red = -6))" the first time I tried using the ISO Launcher. I burned my disc at 1x speed, a FujiFilm DVD-R with the IMGBurner.

I then installed WiiGator and used the latest version of that, which you can find here: http://wiinewz.com/forums/nintendo-news/...r-0-3-beta.html

To test, I used the "Backup Loader" (which is the equivalent of ISO Launcher for WiiGator) with the same Resident Evil 4 backup. It gave me an error saying that there was no disc to be read.

I burned a new disc for my Resident Evil 4 backup using a FujiFilm DVD-R again, but this time I used Nero Burning ROM at 4x speed (lowest possible speed on Nero). After I burned it, I used the "Backup Loader" from WiiGator and it worked perfectly :)

Again to test, I tried the "ISO Launcher" and it gave me the same (red = -6) error.

So to everyone who has problems reading a backuped ISO, try WiiGator. It works very well.

You can get the full version of WiiGator here: http://rs429l32.rapidshare.com/files/150...ors_for_wii.rar

and here's the basic tutorial for installing it: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/706332

The Wiigater Backup loader Beta 3 uses the newest Custom IOS36 rev 06 update

As far as I understand if you have an older cISO version installed you will need to uninstall that version prior to the instillation of the Custom IOS36 rev 06 update.

Great tutorial. Everything explained. I just have one question:
I already installed patchmii for the dvd playback. Is it okay to have patchmii installed AND install this cIOS as well? It won't brick my Wii or anything will it?

Thanks.

EDIT: I uninstalled patchmii and DVDX, installed cIOS36, reinstalled DVDX w/ advanced options and IOS249.
Now, I get an error w/ my disc saying "ERROR! (ret = -4100)"
Can somebody tell me what this means??

Well, actually i suggest using WiiGator now as it seems to have much better compatibility and also you no longer need to edit the file on ur computer

airhammer, are you running your iso through the Backup Creator program before burning with imageburn? I pulled a no brainer and was burning the iso straight to disk and skipping that step, that also gave me the 4100 error. I have tried quite a few different types of media. The only ones that gave me trouble were the el cheapo dvd-r's. Otherwise I have been able to use all other kinds, +r, -r, and +rw.

ISOs will not work unless they have been run through the backup creator. I shall shortly be updating the tutorial to wiigator v0.3 so that this step is removed.

The new Wiigator 0.3 beta does not require the ISO to be patched. However it should play both patched and unpatched backups. SO if you have a previous patched ISO it should still boot with the new WiiGator 0.3 beta version.

I tried metroid prime and wii music iso's on verbatim discs that both didn't work. I burned one with a lightscribe and one with a pioneer burner. I'm not sure why they don't work, but I keep getting errors in wiigator v.3.
