I have been looking at taking advantage of the live 20% off ebay discount so have been considering buying the xbox 360 premium. I would go for the 60 gig new without a doubt except for the fact that it doesn't seem to easy to mod at the moment. The few new 20 gig premium systems are going for the same price as the 60 gig so to me it doesn't seem worth it. I definitely will be modding right off the bat so wondering if buying a refurb for nearly half the price is worth it at this point or am I buying someone else's problems? Please advise.
I would buy a refurb if you're thinking of modding it! Because the new ones will most likely be a Lite-On and those are a bitch to mod! I would check online for a used one. Because I know you can get them for way cheaper.
i just bought and recieved a refurb 360 from ebay, 20 gig hdd wireless controller,
no headset, for $181.00 shipped.
when i recieved it, i was glad to see that it looked like new and sure enough it had toshiba-samsung drive. :)
i have had it a week with no problems at all.
on ebay theres a powerseller selling for $155 shipped for a 20 gig refurb. Plus with the live.com coupon I get an additional $31 off bringing total to $124. Im thinking of doing it at this price.
Is it worth it to buy an extended warranty through squaretrade?
If you are modding the system, then there is no point in getting an extended warranty, because Modding voids the warranty. Unless the ebay seller allows you to open it, and then return it when it doesn't work (which I don't think he will do).

I did see a tutorial on how to remove the warranty sticker by heating it with a hairdryer so I suppose I can do that before I open the box and still have the warranty to cover me just in case.
