Hi,

After reading through a lot the the posts under this thread and still not successful I thought I'd actually ask advice.

I have a Eurovox Max (Blue) whose power started to go funny a week or so ago. It now remains on standby with 4 horizontal green lights.

It has never been flashed since its date of purchase.

After reading various other posts I purchased a jtag from a well recommended seller off an auction site and I have also replaced C14 capacitor (even though it didn't appear damaged). I connected the jtag to the eurovox using the instructions provided. I connected to the P.C. via the printer port, inserted the power cable on the eurovox and ran jkeys v2.9.11 (build 026). I set file>preferences interface to parallel port settings 0x378.

The problem is I still can't detect the box. I've tried using my desktop and laptop just to check the ports. What am I missing or is something else on the PSU board likely to have 'gone'?

Any pointers to a newbie most welcome.

You dont need to Jtag it. Four lines like this ----, indicate its not flashed, as you said. So you need to flash it.

Hi,

This was the first process I attempted. I connected using null modem cable and launch UFL Max Blue 21-04-08 but the software doesn't see the receiver.

This is why, after trying both processes, I believed the PSU board was faulty but wanted to check first.

Up until the power failure the unit has worked faultless for around 2 years.

Is there anything else I'm obviously missing.

Thanks.

I have seen a similar case like this and it turned out the PSU, (as you have assumed), was faulty. Have you checked the voltage output from the PSU?

Not yet. I'm trying to find a volt meter to borrow. Can you suggest any specific points I should test across?

Voltage points and values are indicated on the PSU board at the IDE for the ribbon cable going to the Main Board. Just take out the ribbon from the main board and test voltage output at the end of the ribbon against the values on the PSU board.

I've now replaced the PSU board and guess what......still no joy.

When I try to connect with a jtag serial cable or null modem cable to flash neither software can get a response / recognises the unit.

Now I'm really baffled. Anyone with any ideas?

Sorry missed that bit. Yes, I'm using SKYMAX_up2.2 that came with the jtag.

After setting (Adr flash) to 2MB and LPT1 I select (connection) start then I see the following msg.

Init JTAG
IDCODE : 00000000
Fail DCU, Please Restart or Reset CPU Box

Have tried turning on and off the box and selecting LPT 2 but no joy.

Sorry missed your earlier post. SkyMax will work with ST Omega ICs (chipset), Jkeys will work with Intel ICs.

Have you set your para port to IRQ 378? You can do this in BIOS or Jkeys preference. Have you made sure pin 1 is on pin 1, i.e. red line on Jtag ribbon on pin 1 of the header. I have had to reverse this in some cases, (basically flip the Jtag IDE header around).

sc0user you're a star.

I swapped the jtag header round as suggested and voila. I can see the unit.

Just need to follow the instruction and hopefully I'll be back up and running later.

Thanks for your time.

Should do once recognised. Yep I have noticed this with some of TMC's Jtags of late, (still the best kit to use though). At least you had someone to tell you, I nearly threw the box out the window :)

I've managed to erase using StarMax. I then open jkeys go to development panel, set user function address to 80000000, select the unlock file from the file box, close the development window, select flash programming, select dxd426rd(1chip-gla), select full erase......

... and then I get the following error: error detect erasing sector

what am i missing?

P.S. It is an ST Omega chipset and tried using skyMax. I can erase the flash, but when I write using 'eurovox blue tsop flash.bin' I get.....

Error writing flash at address &FE00000 ACK + 00000100
Write flash end

Just looked at eeprom prog window and IRD/Flask Selection shows IRD Model as unknown and EEPROM as 24LC16.

Does this affect if so is it correct?

Just use SkyMax. This time around erase twice more, do not try to write. Power off after each erase. On the third pass, do not erase just bypass this and go directly to write. It may take a few attempts.

I understand your frustration as I have gone through it ;) At one stage it was a corrupt TSOP file that would allow me to erase but not write. Try this one from Eamos here you will need winrar, (or any other zip utility) to unpack it first.

Try it out and see how it goes. But I can see it has erased and the trap is fine, so writing should be successful. But as said a corrupt TSOP file caused this for me sometime last year.
