Hello my name is Josh. I am looking to build my own computer. The only game I will play is World of Warcraft, and will use the computer for web surfing typing up documents for college. I would like to run Wow on full settings (besides AA/AF) the whole softening the edges don't really matter to me, im more concerned on the other things. The game will be played on a 1280/1024 viewsonic monitor. There isn't really much I can salvage except mabe my 100gb hardrive, and my cd/dvd burner. I will only need the computer parts itself ex: case, mobo, cpu, os... Meaning I dont need input devices like keyboard and mouse, or a monitor. I would like to keep this build around 600-700 USD (I am a college student). Thanks again in advance.
I'm not a WoW player, and I don't know how much of an impact the recent expansion will have had on the graphical requirements but to play a relatively demanding game like COD4 at max settings at that resolution doesn't require a very powerful graphics card.
so I'd suggest
Core 2 Duo E5200
2x2GB Corsair XMS2 PC6400 RAM Gigabyte EP31-DS3L or EP35-DS3L motherboard
nvidia Geforce 9600GSO graphics card
Antec Earthwatts 380W PSU
NZXT Alpha, Coolermaster Elite or Antec three hundred case
500GB Western Digital Caviar SE16 Hard drive
All of that puts me just under the $600 USD mark after shipping with all the mail in rebates calculated. Is the processor going to be just fine? Is it powerful enough so my graphics card isn't acting all funky? I changed the psu to 550watt because I wasn't sure if the 450watt was going to be enough, because the card itself recomeded a 400-450 watt psu. If I am wrong please correct me.
Ya, with all the mail in rebates im still within the lower end of my budget. So you think everything should run just fine together? Like will the processor be able to handle the video card. Thanks again for your help. If so then I will have enough money by the time WOTLK comes out.
Yes that system should work fine. I use a similar system to that in my file server, but with an older graphics card and slightly slower CPU (E4300 and X1900XT)
