how do i use external HD music while in-game??

now, I know you can only listen to your downloaded mp3 in-game, with specific games. Wipeout HD being one. My question is- How do you listen to your music from an external HD whie in the game? I have @ 80 gigs of music on my external, kinda don't want to fill my ps3 with all my favs, when they are already on one HDD. works fine while listening from XMB, but while in-game it won't let you access the external. Anybody found a way around this??

I've got the same question but using a media server instead of the external hdd, its kinda lame having to copy everything onto the ps3 to listen to it in game. Defeats the point of its ability to read external memory sources and access media servers.
