I've been reading around and it seems as if I need a certain DVD burner to backup my games. Is that true? I just recently got my 360 flashed only to find out how hard it is to actually back them up.
Could someone please tell me if there is anyway I could make an ISO from using my DVD burner without having to buy anything else?
I'm not sure what brand it is (It's built into my laptop) but it reads Bluray...

Yes you do need specific drives on your PC and you also must flash them with hacked firmware in order to rip the games. You can also use your 360's drive to rip games, assuming you have a Phillips drive. There are too many details to go into in one post, and I recommend you do some more research on the topic before attempting to rip any 360 games. You MUST purchase a specific model drive for these to work, and if you have no clue what you're doing, you're better off downloading already ripped isos off any torrent tracker and using those as backups (technically its not illegal to download them if you have the game, but you can't seed them).

If you are serious about ripping games though, you can find the answers to all your questions in this guide: http://rapidshare.com/files/115225386/Textbook.2008.pdf.html

My 360 drive was a Liteon, I'm not sure what it is now... I think it's a Samsung? I don't have it with me at the moment so I can't check.

I bought a dvd drive off eBay exactly like this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...em=140275119296

Would that work?

I would download the games I own except I only have a 1.5mbps internet connection. it would probably take a while even if i did...

I would just run a search on ebay for "Kreon" and that will return (hopefully) all the drives that are preflashed with kreon. Just buy one of them and use that to read the games. Now that's only the reader, so you will need a dual layer dvd burner.

I would also NOT recommend downloading games. There have been numerous ban hammers I have gone through untouched (knock on wood) and I believe it is because I have never downloaded and played a game, but only backed up games that are physically in my hand with my kreon drive.

just my two cents...
