Alright, Im doing this for my nephew. Ive been searching these forums for like 5 hours tonight. The error code I get, 80020148, is doing this when I try hellCats flasher, Pandora Battery creator, kernel 1.5, etc. Doesnt matter which I use, I cannot do the second part of the guide I was following from here. The PSP has 4.05 firmware on it. As I said, Ive only gotten to the Magic Memory stick part, Ive not gotten pandora battery working. Also, the Holding down the R Trigger when I start the PSP (hitting select as well) will not work for me. Does anyone have any ideas that could help me?

that's why you don't have a custom fimrare. To run all those and do all that stuff you need custom firmware.
Use this GUIDE from larrylje.

You can not convert the Battery to Pandora using an Official Firmware PSP. That is why your getting the game could not be started error.
You will need to buy a datel tool battery or use a PSP that has a custom firmware already installed on it.

Here is the thing, obviously I didnt make my post detailed enough. I followed Larrylje's guide, I got the MMS done. When I went to the second part to do the Battery, it gave me that error. Now, in order for me to put the Custom Firmware on there, I have to have the MMS and the battery. For some reason, I cannot do the battery through a softmod. Looks like I can either cut the one pin, or buy one. I was hoping to avoid anything like that period. If there is a way for me to put the Custom Firmware on here without using the Pandora Battery, please someone either point me to the guide or let me know. Ive continued searching today with no luck. Of course, I didnt get much sleep last night.
BTW, how come holding down R while powering up does not work for me?

There is no other way. You need a Pandora Battery & MMS to install the custom firmware.
We have given your options above.
As to your other question. Pressing R and going into recovery mode only works when you have custom firmware installed. This is not an option with Official firmware. Once you have the custom firmware installed you will then be able to hold down R and boot into recovery mode.

WEll thank you then. That guide is a tad misleading or what you said originally was. Looks like Ill either buy a Datel Battery or go get another battery and make it a pandora one. Thanks guys.

There is nothing misleading about the guide or what I previously said. Your just not paying attention.
It is simple. When creating the Pandora Battery use the part of the guide that corresponds with what firmware you have on the PSP.
You have official firmware so you need to follow the official firmware part of the Pandora Guide.

I am not taking offense but you should double or triple check what your reading before claiming something is misleading or information that is given to you is misleading.

It depends on the motherboard you have. TA-088v3 motherboards have blocked the instillation of IPL to it so you can not mod those PSP's at this time.
To help identify if you have it or not go HERE.
