To get a Hitachi drive into mode b, you can either use a chip ( made by executer i think ) or you can use slax. Slax is like its own little operating system, built from linux. It isn't related to windows.

To start off with you need to connect your xbox 360's dvd drive to your computer using a SATA cable. Then you need to download slax and burn it to a disc. Put the slax cd into your computers dvd/cd drive and get your computer to reboot.

When your computer restarts it might come up with a message saying " press any button to boot from CD " or along those lines. Just press the space bar.

It will now load slax from the cd and if it all went well your drive should now be in mode b. You can test it by pressing the eject button on the xboxs dvd drive. In mode b you need to press it twice for it to actually open. If it opens in one press, you need to try again.

Once you are sure your drive is in mode b, unplug your pc from the mains ( do not use the buttons on the pc ) if you are using a laptop take out the cable and battery without turning it off.

Then plug the cables all back in and boot up windows. Go into my computer and your xboxs dvd drive should be there.

Good luck.

Actually I tried the slax method w/my first ever flash, and I could not no matter what i tried get the drive into mode b. So what i ended up doing was the two wire trick. Its actually really easy to do once you figure it out. There are tutorials online on how to do it, although may be a little more difficult to find.

Edit: Sorry i initially said the LG drive was not flashable, however i was thinking about the new Lite-ons. I did not realize the LG was a model of the hitachi. there is some information on this forum about it here:

yeah, for me, for some reason, my computer won't boot from live cds (custom built pc, motherboard and hard drive don't like each other). So I had to go the two wire trick also. Works pretty easy

its probably your BIOS settings, you have to enable SATA use for this

No, I built the computer. I know bios settings, and everything. It's some incompatibility with my hard drive and the motherboard. I can't install ANY OS on my computer, I have to take the hard drive out, put it in another computer, and install it with a cd on there, then tke the hard drive out, and put it in my computer.

So no live cds will work on that either. However, booting from USB does work, hence, the ability to flash consoles.
