any issues with using any of these on connect24? also wanted to use the wii clip but when i looked about 6months ago was told they wernt very reliable any change in this are they any good?
I had just received my wiikey 2 and wiiclip v 4 for d2pro yesterday, the wiiclip is fine as long as you dont get a clone, the clone can mess up your wii. when you receive your wiiclip they point you at where to go to determine if its a clone or not, if they dont, its probably a clone. As for the wiikey 2, because this wiiclip was not made for it the letters that you solder together do not match, as well as the chip being to small for the clip, they also did not include any guides for soldering (they usually dont.) but after looking at the d2pro install guide and the wiikey 2 install guide i found that they are soldered to the exact same points so i just had to do a little letter conversion and got it done. poped the wiikey 2 with wiiclip on and its working great so far.
Wiikey 2 only offers the DVD upgradeablity.
D2Pro9 offers both DVD and Jtag option for update.
Being able to update via Jtag is a nice added option. DVD upgradeablity can only update the SPI flash. The Jtag can update both the SPI flash and the chipset on the Modchip.
They both come from the same people and both have the same base options. The D2Pro9 is about $5 more but having the added option to update via Jtag might be worth the extra $5 cost. Then again the Jtag option is only good if the team uses that option instead of manufacturing new versions of the modchip when an issue comes up.
You are fine using WiiConnect 24 with any modchip. As to the Wiiclip most have success with it so it is a nice option to go with if you are not that good at soldering.

You don't need to buy the Jtag programmer right away. Buy it if and when you need it. I would rather spend an extra $25 to update a modchip I already have when the time comes rather then $40 on a new version modchip. But having the option to update via Jtag if the need ever comes up is a plus.
Anyway why should anyone push or recommend a Wiikey 2? Why did they change the name of their modchip from Wiikey to D2Pro9 then back to Wiikey 2? It is just a marketing stunt.
I am sure the Wiikey 2 can be manufactured cheaper then the D2Pro9 since the Jtag option is no longer available on the Wiikey 2. So why is the cost for both Modchips almost the same? All your doing is paying extra for the Wiikey logo.

I agree with you; and I think both chips are pretty good, they both get the job done.
