I have a slightly used Cobra XRS 9330 with power cable and windshield mount. The reason for sale is I got a good deal on an (i.m.o) better model and decided to sell this one. Here are some specs from the manufacturers site...
Suggested Retail Price: $99.95
Bright Data Display
System Ready Prompt: Notifies the user that the detector is on an functioning
Radar/Laser detector with reliable, proven performance.
12-Band Detection detects:
6 radar
4 laser
2 safety signals(alerts of oncoming emergency vehicle ie Ambulance)
Radar signals include X Band, K Band, Ka Superwide, Ku Band, VG-2 and Spectre.
Laser signals include LTI 20-20, Ultra Lyte, ProLaser and ProLaser III.
I accept PayPal, checks, and cash. I am in the United States, the state of Illinois. UPS estimates a item I ship can reach the west/east coast in 4 days, so if you purchase this it will arrive fairly fast. The standard shipping I use is included free, if you require a faster shipping method (example. UPS 2 day, 2 Day Air,etc.) that will be added cost. But the base standard ground shipping is free.

It detects the types of radar/lasers that cops used to see how fast you are going. So if you are going above the speed limit and a cop is sitting up the road with a radar/speed gun this will let you know that the cop is watching you before the cop can see how fast your going. Keeps you from getting speeding tickets :)

That's pretty cool! How does the interface work? Is it visual or auditory?

It is both auditory and visual. The visual part is through the built in display that displays what type of signal it is picking up and auditory as the unit makes a beeping noise that beeps faster and faster the closer you get to the signal it is detecting. The real expensive units from some manufacturers annouce through voice whatever the message is. But in my opinion it is a useless feature because if I am speeding and I hear the unit beep I know to start slowing down, I don't need a voice to tell say "Ka Band Detected". Like I said the beeping does just fine and only a few of the most expensive units have voice alerts.

Does it tell you in distance how far a cop or speed meter is?

No unit on the market has the ability to do that. There is simply no way for it to judge the distance of the radar/speed gun based on the signal strength. But like I said the intensity/duration of the beeping noise it alerts you with will speed up the closer you get. So for example if it is going Beep------beep------beep the cop is definetly a ways away but if it is going beep-beep-beep then he is probably directly ahead of you.

US and European Radar/Laser/Speed Gun signals and emergency vehicle signals. That is all Radar Detectors are made for, what separates different products is the amount of and the type of signals they can pickup. Some only do radar not useful if your speeding and the cop has a laser gun as the detector won't recognize it. This unit picks up every major band in use across the united states and many european signals.

I should get one of these when I start driving. Does it tell you whether cops are in the area (whether they are on patrol or not?)

A police band scanner would let you tune into police talking on the radio but this lets you detect whether or not cops are scanning for speeders in the area. There really isn't one device that can scan for cop cars. That would be like having a device that could detect all the Ford Crown Victorias in the area, its not going to happen.
When do you start driving?

can also be illegal in your area so might want to check first before buying as cops have radar detector detectors.

It plugs into the cigarette lighter, and it can either sit on your dash or use the suction cup plate to attach it to your windshield. If you roll stops or cut corners and there is a cop in the area with radar on it will alert you the radar is there. So back will it pick up just a cop sitting around the corner? No. Will it pick up a cop sitting the corner with there radar on? Yes.

I did a quick search and according to many sites, devices like these ARE legal in California and you can not get in trouble for using them to deter speeding tickets. But all the sites also said if they are used to avoid cops due to a crime commited (bank robbery, grand theft, etc.) then in that case they would be deemed illegal use of a legal device. While I was looking through california law it seems there is a law pertaining to were and how high you can mount things on your windshield. It seems your best bet if mounting a device like this on your windshield would be to mount it in the far right hand corner(farthest from the drivers seat) of the windshield. Sitting it on the dash is still 100% legal :)

Well it's a cool tool, but I don't really plan to speed and I won't be driving on my own until at least 6 more months so, I don't think I'll need this. Thanks for the info and the offer though!
