Hi all.

First off is it possible to install more channels on the wii other then the default ones, the homebrew channel and the mario kart one?

If so where can you recommend I go to see this. Also i have a modded wii with the wii key 3.2u and 1.9s.

Also what are pretty cool ones that you recommend?

Thank you

The only completely unofficial channel available is the homebrew channel. There are other channels you can add via wads but they are just the virtual console games with different roms injected into them. Some of them have custom banners as well, but alot of them still display as the original game that the wad contained.

Theres a wad packer program available here http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=83568 that will take a ROM file and a WAD and repack them into a new WAD. However, only one game can be added per channel. In addition, it wont always work and the injected games are often glitchy.

A better and easier solution is to just install the NES and SNES emulators on the homebrew channel and run your roms that way. Emulators and other homebrew channel apps are available here http://nintendo-scene.com/homebrew-channel-packs

It's called futureproofing. They added tons of channel slots so they have the option of things like the mario kart channel. You'll run out of space on the wii's internal memory long before you run out of open channel slots.

All wiiware and VC games install to their own channel, thats why there are so many.

Just "obtain" a wad file of the wiiware or VC game you want, use a wad installer through the homebrew channel to add them to a channel on your menu.

any specific reason/need for "designing" a channel?

It really is what they said, giving more space than necessary. It would be worse to run out of possible channels than have too many.

I have the steps to install The Homebrew Channel and Wad manager in this thread HERE.

As ggbarnum suggested your best bet is to download the VC/Wiiware WAD files (I am pretty sure all those that you mentioned above have been released except for Mega Man but I am not sure). You will need a classic controller for the VC games. All Wiiware games use the Wiimote. Also make sure you download WAD files that correspond with your Wii system region.

There is always a chance of bricking when you do any modification to your system. But if you follow the instructions properly the chances are slim.
