so I was playing a game when I heard a strange sound from my 360 so I pressed the eject button everything seemed fine so I put the game back in and then the tray opened by itself so pressed it again thinking that was weird and now it just keeps opening when I try to close it

I've read some similar forum posts on other sites that say it is a drive failure. They said to try to contact MS and see if you can get it repaired. You still have your warranty?

I had my 360 flashed, and I went ahead and sent it back when I got the rrod. I figured, what's the worst that will happen, they'll just send it right back to me just like it is. Two weeks later I had a refurb completely working at my door. You might as well atleast try.

it wont close? remind me of my old xbox 360. i had the same problem with you. the dvd tray wont close, it keeps ejecting. i had to order a new dvd drive from ebay and swap the ciricuit board with the new one and then it works perfectly fine. i think the gears inside ur dvd drive may be old.
