hi,
bought a brand new copy of viking battle of asgard, i booted the game up and i was watching the intro scene and the screen crashed and it said press x, had to re-boot the ps3 cos nothing happened when i pressed x,everytime i re-booted it it would not read the disc, tried 3 other ps3 games and it would not read them either, i read on these forums that there was quite a few problems with the 2.40 update, i phoned sony up and they said that they would replace the ps3 as its still under guarantee , i asked the guy if they were having problems with the 2.40 updates and he said that it is nothing to do with the updates and that some games just have bad data on them which is why it crashed, anyway point being, when i get my new ps3 tomorrow should i attempt to re-load that same game or not cos i dont want to break another one, any help would be appreciated, thanks
i dont think that running a game can cause any permanent damage to a system. More likely you had a bad blue-ray drive. If you search the forum you will find a large thread about it.
well i had the same problem and i didnt put any games into my ps3 it just stoped reading disk kuz i only have two games since i brought it and they been working fine then one day it just stop play any disk, dvds i took it into where i brought it and they couldnt fix it and gave me a new ps3 and then my mate had the same prob and they just gave him a new one aswell
