Is it an out-of-region game? If so then he shouldn't update. If so he should be fine.

It's the 3.3 update. He'll be on a lower O/S - hence prompt.

My opinion is unique. Just like everyone elses.

@Redemp
You get duplicate channels if your wii is at 3.3 of one region and then you update with 3.3 from another region. If your wii was at 3.2 or earlier though and you update with 3.3 from the wrong region then you get a semi-brick.

@yoman125
Does the error say 001 in it anywhere? Because thats the 'unauthorized hardware detected' error. If it's just text and no numbers then thats a disk read error, and probably a bad burn.

this error is after i click play it was directly came out an black screen with text(off course japanese text) and i see an "OFF" button on the text so it means like yours which is something is detected "please turn OFF your console" so i just turn it off and ON again.
other backup game still playable like GH3 Legend of rock,RE:Umbrella Chronicle,Mario&Sonic@Olympic and bla bla all burned disc...
but sometimes it can't read the disc of this Wii Music, the error is same when you put the Wii Disc wrong side

If the error from the console requires you to turn it off and still other games works as you said. I presume that error may be the error wherein the console requires you to eject the unreadable CD and turn off the console. The further text also says refer to the manual. Try burning another wii music into another dvd at 4x speed then give it another go.

Anyway around upgrading for Wii Music?

I'm currently on 3.2U and have some Trucha Discs I don't want to give up.

I suspect this got nothing to do with bad burn. But rather the problem lies with the 3.3 update.

I'm currently having similar problem trying to play Wii Fit using the backup copy of my original NTSC-U disc on my mod Jap Console.

i have burn at 4x speed...but it still have the same error...the first disc i burn it has the Wii Music Screen on it(which is the first time i play the disc) and i click PLay and it came out this stupid error after i re-on my Wii the disc is not readable anymore lol
i think its 3.3j update problem...
EDIT:
Both ESPALWii version and TMD version is a failure file..it waste my disc...and i think we cant play Wii Music yet...i still have the same damn OFF error...

Just use BrickBlocker on the Wii Music ISO before you burn it.

The update isn't actually necessary to play the game.

Brick Blocker messes it up.

You can read it fine, but when you press "start" it just hangs on a black screen, no text.

Brickblock works for NTSC(U)region users.

That's because you have an NTSC Wii, I have a PAL Wii.
